A question word + でも means 'any-' or 'every-': whichever one you choose, the sentence is true, with no exception. It is mostly used in affirmative sentences, and it is common with 〜いいです ('any ... is fine'), potential verbs, and requests. To say 'nothing / nobody / nowhere' with a negative verb, Japanese uses question word + も instead (何も食べません). You can also say どんな + noun + でも ('any kind of ...'): どんな質問でもいいです.
§1Structure
Question word + でも: 何でも(なんでも), だれでも, いつでも, どこでも, どれでも, どちらでも, いくつでも. The particles が and を are normally dropped (だれでも分かります, 何でも食べます). Other particles come between the question word and でも: だれにでも, だれとでも, どこへでも, どこにでも, どこででも, どこからでも. Note that 何でも is read なんでも.

§3Common mistakes
- Using 〜でも to say 'nothing', 'nobody', or 'nowhere' with a negative verb. That meaning needs question word + も. Wrong: 昨日は何でも食べませんでした / 教室にだれでもいません. Right: 昨日は何も食べませんでした / 教室にだれもいません.
- Putting the particle after でも. に, と, へ, で, and から come before でも. Wrong: だれでもに聞けます / どこでもへ行きます. Right: だれにでも聞けます / どこへでも行きます.
- Mixing up 何か and 何でも. 何か is 'something' (one thing, not decided yet): 何か食べたいです (I want to eat something). 何でも is 'anything' (every choice is OK): 何でも食べます (I eat anything).
§4How it's different from similar grammar
- Question word + も + negative (nothing / nobody / nowhere)
- Question word + も goes with a negative verb and means 'not any': 弟は何も食べません (My little brother doesn't eat anything). Question word + でも goes with an affirmative verb and means 'any, without exception': 弟は何でも食べます (My little brother eats anything). Look at the end of the sentence: negative → も, affirmative → でも.
- Question word + 〜ても (no matter what / who ... does)
- Question word + でも is one word that works like a noun or an adverb: いつでも電話してください (Please call anytime). Question word + verb + ても is a clause with its own verb: いつ電話しても、だれも出ません (Whenever I call, nobody answers). If you need to say an action inside the 'no matter ...' part, use 〜ても.
§5How this shows up on the JLPT
The classic N4 question gives 何も, 何か, 何でも, and 何が (or the same set with だれ / どこ) as choices. Check the end of the sentence first: a negative verb points to 〜も, and an affirmative sentence that means 'every choice is OK' points to 〜でも. With a particle, the order is tested in sentence-ordering questions: だれ → に → でも. In listening and conversation questions, short answers such as 何でもいいです, いつでもいいです, and どちらでもいいです are very common.
§6Quick check (3 questions)
1. Choose the form that fits the blank: 困ったときは、__相談してください。
こまったときは、__そうだんしてください。
2. Which sentence is correct?
3. What does B mean? A「次の会議はいつがいいですか。」 B「いつでもいいですよ。」
A「つぎのかいぎはいつがいいですか。」 B「いつでもいいですよ。」
