それに adds one more point of the same kind to what you have just said: another good point after a good point, or another bad point after a bad point. It is common in conversation when you give several reasons or describe something. It does not show a result, a contrast, or the order of actions.
§1Structure
Sentence 1。 それに、 Sentence 2. それに is a conjunction placed at the beginning of the second sentence. It is also used inside one sentence after 〜し (寒いし、それに雨も降っている) and to add the last item in a list of nouns (パンと卵、それに牛乳). The added sentence often contains も.

§3Common mistakes
- Using それに to join a good point and a bad point. ✕ この店は安いです。それに、おいしくないです。 → ○ この店は安いです。でも、おいしくないです。 それに adds a point in the same direction; for a contrast, use でも or しかし.
- Using それに for the next action in time. ✕ 6時に起きました。それに、顔を洗いました。 → ○ 6時に起きました。それから、顔を洗いました。 For 'and then', use それから.
- Confusing それに with それで. ✕ 雨が降りました。それに、試合はありませんでした (when the rain is the cause) → ○ 雨が降りました。それで、試合はありませんでした。 それに adds information; それで gives a result.
§4How it's different from similar grammar
- 〜し、〜し (listing reasons or points)
- Both list points of the same kind. 〜し is a sentence ending that joins clauses inside one sentence: この町は静かだし、緑も多い. それに is a conjunction that starts the added part: この町は静かです。それに、緑も多いです. They are often used together: この町は静かだし、それに緑も多い.
- それで (and so / because of that)
- それに adds a similar point: 新しいパソコンは軽いです。それに、音も静かです (The new computer is light. Besides, it is quiet). それで gives a result: 新しいパソコンは軽いです。それで、毎日持って出かけます (The new computer is light, so I take it out with me every day).
§5How this shows up on the JLPT
In N4 grammar-form and text-grammar questions, you choose the conjunction for a blank between two sentences. Choose それに when the second sentence gives one more point of the same kind (watch for も in it). Choose それで for a result, それから for the next action, and でも/しかし for a contrast. In sentence-ordering questions, それに often comes right after 〜し、.
§6Quick check (3 questions)
1. What does それに do in this sentence? 「きょうは風が強いです。それに、雪も降っています。」
きょうはかぜがつよいです。それに、ゆきもふっています。
2. Choose the conjunction that fits the blank: この部屋は明るいです。__、窓から海も見えます。
このへやはあかるいです。__、まどからうみもみえます。
3. In which sentence is それに used correctly?
