Expresses prohibition — something that is not allowed.

Examples

• ここでたばこを吸ってはいけません。

  ここでたばこをすってはいけません。

  You must not smoke here.

• 授業中に寝てはいけない。

  じゅぎょうちゅうにねてはいけない。

  You must not sleep during class.
